Stalking through the territory rather slowly, Minnowleg looked around, bored. She hadn't had anything to do at camp. Though she never did. No, she didn't really have any friends there, so there was nobody to talk to. There really was nothing for her anywhere near here.
Sighing, the she-cat walked on. Maybe she would be lucky, and perhaps catch something? The clan could always use it...

Sparhawk was wandering around outside of the camp, but not too far incase someone needed him. The brown tom was having trouble adjusting to his new position as deputy, now that cats actually looked up to him and expected insightful advice from his every word, life in the camp seemed harder. He tensed when he heard a rustle in the bushes near him but relaxed when he saw Minnowleg. "Hi there."

"Huh?" Looking over, the lanky she-cat saw the new deputy. "Oh, hello there Sparhawk. What are you doing out? Just trying to cool off I'd assume. You are the new deputy afterall, it must be a lot of responsibility on your shoulders now, huh?"

The tom nodded. "It is, I never realized how hard being a deputy could be. I don't envy Hawkstar at all. She's the leader and it's hard enough just to be deputy. But still, I guess you get used to it after a while." Sparhawk looked at Minnowleg. "So, that's my excuse. What's yours?"

"Excuse? Oh, uh... well, nothing really." she said, shrugging. "I didn't have anything to do at camp, so I decided to come out. Of course, I never have anything to do at camp. So I go out by myself quite a bit, it's not like I have friends or anything to hang out with. Though if you think about it, that's really not a completely bad thing."

Sparhawk thought about it for a moment and sighed mentally. "It's not a bad thing, but it's definitly not a good thing either. Do you mind if I walk with you a little bit? Maybe we'll catch a mouse or two."He hoped Minnowleg would not object to his company. The large tom did not want to be alone, and she seemed like a little company would be a pleasant change.

"I don't really care." she said, shrugging. "I guess we do kind of need food during leaf-bare. Though new-leaf should be coming soon, and the prey will start coming back. Everything will be a bit easier for us." Minnowleg wasn't going to tell the deputy that he couldn't go walking with her. It wasn't really something she thought she could do.

Ooc: That's 3... that I've counted at least
Bic: Sparhawk nodded. He had a feeling that the she-cat was having doubts about herself. "You know, you are a great warrior. And a really nice cat to talk to. I needed to get out, and at first just wanted to be alone. But it's great to talk to you, Minnowleg." The large tom kept on walking, hoping that he would scent something that they could take back to the clan. He didn't need to go far before he heard the sounds of a vole trying to find food. "Wait here." He mouthed to Minnowleg before dropping into a hunter's crouch and stalked the pray. Within seconds, the vole was dead and Sparhawk was standing above it.

"Good catch." the she-cat said, padding over to him. She had no clue what to say, so just mumbled, "Want to get going then? I'd assume it would be easy enough to catch some more. Or you probably can at least, I feel like I'm a bit off today."

Sparhawk grinned and thingyed his head. "Don't worry about it. We should keep going, I promise that the next thing any of us scents can go to you."

"If you scent something first, there's no point in telling me about it so I can catch it." she said, frowning. Her creamy orange tail twitching, Minnowleg added, "If you scent it, then it's yours. I can't help it if I'm too slow to smell anything."

Sparhawk stopped as soon as he heard Minnowleg's last comment. "That's not true! You just aren't letting yourself be good." He looked at the she-cat and ducked his head. "What I mean is, you need to open your eyes and close up that part of you that is saying you can't do it. You can! Believe in yourself and give yourself a chance."

Minnowleg took a step back for a moment, giving Sparhawk an odd look. "Whatever you say?" she said to the deputy, a bit hesitant. "I never said that I can't hunt, or I didn't really. Just saying I should really make my own catches."

Sparhawk hung his head slightly. So this being the encouraging deputy thing wasn't as easy as he thought. "Sorry Minnowleg." He told the she-cat, hoping she could forgive him.

"Not like you have to apologize for anything." she said, shrugging slowly. "You didn't do anything wrong Sparkhawk, really. I guess I can send mixed messages at time, you could have seen it differently, what I said, than how I meant it."
